A thoughtful and experienced leader who has deftly balanced the strategic and the tactical in developing business strategies for growth and creative initiatives to advance operational performance, brings this expertise to her new purpose—creating the space for her clients to living their best life—personally and professionally.

In his book, Principles, Ray Dalio describes life in three phases. Phase One is childhood and education. Phase Two is adult life which might include raising a family and building a career. Phase Three is transferring knowledge and savoring life. Phase Three started for me in January of 2017 after I had sold the business I had founded and had been working in for seventeen years.

My business, The ALARIS Group, Inc., was founded in 2000 in Minnesota at the start of the new millennium. The company was successful and grew to doing business in twenty-two states with three hundred employees. The company started as an entrepreneurial dream between five women and became a successful powerhouse in the Medical Case Management Industry.

My role with ALARIS was Business Development and Operations Lead. I learned a lot during those seventeen years and developed many skills. Those that I enjoyed the best were developing business strategies for growth and creative initiatives to advance operational performance. As a leader at ALARIS I had the privilege to work with many up and coming professionals. It was rewarding to watch these talented individuals blossom and become effective leaders in their own right with the knowledge that I had had a hand in their development.

After selling the business I realized that I was now in Life Phase Three as described by Ray Dalio. It was time for me to leave the world of work behind and start to savor life and transfer the knowledge I had gained over a career that spanned forty-five years. The question for me then was, how to do that? My first initiative was to develop a strong Mindfulness practice. I attended several retreats lead by a gifted instructor, Kate Mitcheom, who is an adjunct professor at the Center for Mindfulness and UMASS. It was through the work I was doing in mindfulness that led to my decision to become a life coach with a basis in Mindfulness.

While I have had many years of coaching experience through my work, I decided that it was important to obtain formal training. I enrolled in the Mindfulness Coaching School, out of Sante Fe, New Mexico which is certified by International Coach Federation (ICF). I have completed 60 hours of required academic training and 100 hours of internship.

I founded my current business, Mindful Based Coaching in 2017. I am committed to continued advancement of my coaching skills with the goal of becoming a great coach. I am enjoying immensely my work with clients as we work together to achieve all that they want out of their life and careers. I also committed to helping small entrepreneurial organizations and businesses with their business development and leadership training needs.

As for savoring life, I love my “lake life” in beautiful northern Minnesota and enjoy the “interesting but challenging” four seasons that Minnesota offers. I am lucky enough to spend a lot of time with my adult children and grandchildren who live near. I also like to describe myself as traveler, I prefer to identify my passion for travel in that way as it more aptly describes that love of learning that I have for new cultures and people that I encounter. I most enjoy annual trips to Hawaii with my family; we love the Aloha spirit that is found there.
